Welcome to Taiwan!

The moment I stepped into Taiwan airport, and interacted with the first Taiwanese whom was the custom officer there, I started to like Taiwan =)
Really.
Started from the custom officer, visitor information counter staff, bus driver to Taipei Main Station, to the hostel guy...
They are so welcoming and friendly.
In terms of politeness and friendliness, even Hong Kong is incomparable.

Everywhere we go, the staff would greet us 'huan ying guan~ ling'welcome and 'xie xie guan~ ling'thanks for coming!
Ming and I are addicted to their 'singing' greetings.
And we are never pressed to purchase from them....

I told ming the moment we board the airport bus, 'I am beginning to love Taiwan' =)

CF mentioned before Taiwan is not as city-like as shown in dramas...
True enough, I'm kinda surprised that Taipei is packed with scooters population than cars, the roads and buildings are almost similar to some areas in china.
But overall it was a lovely country with nice ppl and places to go.

I love the night markets in Taipei--> everynight we would visit a different night market...
I love the street foods in the night markets--> everything we ate are nice. I love shave ice!
I love shopping at WuFenPu--> warehouse price, many varieties and pricing is definitely cheaper than sg. but one thing for sure is I prefer shopping @ Bangkok Chatuchak Market, which is 4 to 5 times larger and much cheaper than WuFenPu. serious!
I love the ppl there! (except a few black goats whom we met)
I love watching 100 television channels every night in the hostel.--> even after 2am.
And I love their 7-11 instand food(bian dan)! They r really power la!

My verdict-->
Taiwan is a lovely place and easily accessible for 1st- timer.
DIY travel is definitely possible, we did it =)
Taiwan is some what similar to Hong Kong in terms of supreme food, breathtaking sceneries (mountains, night lights and crowded)
Shopping in Hong Kong is slightly more expensive than Taiwan, but the trends in Hong Kong are nicer and faster.
Somehow, I still prefer HongKong than Taiwan -_-

so much obstacles before our taiwan trip.

- Typhoon Marokat in Taiwan destructed central and eastern Taiwan badly. And we had to cancel our trip to sun moon lake(a very beautiful place to go) & kaoshiung. 8 days straight in Taipei solely... sigh~
ANd praying hard there's no more typhoon next week.

- Ming's recuurent dislocation of his right shoulder for the 2nd time. sigh.

- I'm now with flu and sore throat. Sister Leong said I can't travel overseas if I have yet to recover by then.(lucky is just mild URTI. not H1N1 -_-)

After ward meeting last month, went for dinner @ Fish manhatten with some new gals from the ward.
Also as a farewell dinner to Angela whom has left to study degree in NUS.
I was shag that day.
Went back to work last nite after dinner with them...

Few days back went to Joyce house for dinner...
All the food are cooked by her!

And of course we didn't forget to camwhore @ her house as always...
Her mickey n minnie mouse...!

And waited for ming to finish his rehearsal before going for a movie.

Not being patriotic,

The food is disappointing though.
SO is the ending of the movie.

Kelly's 22nd Birthday (A belated post)

I requested everyone to wear black dress (gals),
and JJ to wear black shirt.
The theme was The black affairs

Everyone was compliant... except SHARON!

Congrats to Evon & JJ whom qualify the dress code (fully black indeed). lol

But to be optimistic, I got ZERO mc this yr =) *so proud of myself*

But if my application is rejected, is okay...

Happy Nurses Day! (BELATED)

When I first started work 2 yrs back,
it's not uncommon to leave the ward at 5pm plus for morning shifts.
Everyday at work is akin to fighting a battle,
unpredictable things happened, and limited manpowers to handle crisis.
Pressure is written all over our face.

2 yrs later,
I looked back on those days.
And proud to say we have survived through =)
Lina, pam n myself. (from the same batch)

Now with new gals, and some new staffs from other wards,
we are divided into 3 teams from the original 2 teams.
That gave us more time to care, manage and teach holistically,
which is the highlight in nursing.
How nice =)

During a conversation with Lina,
we were saying the workload is much better than before,
and the new gals should perform even better than us when we first started.

However we didn't consider the fact that with lesser patients to care, chances of performing certain procedures are restricted.
And time management and priority setting do not come efficiently as the rush ain't too tight.

From it I concluded that it's beneficial to learn from the hard way.
Being busy, stressed, and racing against time might not be a bad thing in the long run.
WE got to see more, practise more, and thus learn more.
=)

Left with only 10 months of bond to serve,
time passed fast indeed.
And I was vexing how to complete 3 yrs in sgh when I first started out.

I used to wonder if I were not bonded, would I have left sgh few months after graduation?
And aimlessly searching for a goal still or,
battle through the challenges and stayed on till now?

I think nurses whom are not bonded, yet manage to stay firm in their jobs are impressive.
=)
For I doubt I could.
Thanks to my bond, that I stayed.
And no regrets =)

H1N1 go away pls

I pray H1N1 will not hit on me now.
No fever, no URTI symptoms pls.

Yesterday roll call, sister mentioned our ward has one confirmed case and had already been sent down for isolation.
This influenza is everywhere now.
So everyone pls take more vitamins, and drink lots of water...
And sleep more too!
Help to increase ur immunity system =)

Haunting in Connecticut

Today went to watch Haunting at Connecticut with Pam, Kai, Lina and Anna after work...
Kai n I were so excited to catch that movie after a few reviews by our colleagues...
Based on real life account and it's damn scary, some said.

Lina helped to make the show less scary.
Her frights, and actions during scary scene made us laughed instead...
30 mins into the movie, she went for toilet break,
and never came back.
..................

And when I called her, guess where the gal went to?
Haha.
She entered another theatre to watch another film.

Funny!

However the movie is not that scary or gruesome as described...
I was expecting more breath-taking moments! LOLZ
The storyline was not bad, but could be better.
Being an avid horror fan, I would only rate the fright component 2 stars.
And 2.5 stars to the plot.

Can horror movies be scarier pls?

I like horror shows...
But I'm actually very timid.
I'm afraid of being alone in an enclosed dark room,
alone at home especially when it gets dark (sometimes),
and even switching off the living room lights when I'm the last to sleep.

Sleeping day at home watching Hong Kong Drama

I am so addicted to Hong Kong dramas...
One drama after another....
It's so nice to stay in Hong Kong.... Even a day at home you will not be bored with the tv on.
But everytime I returned to HK, I had no time for the TV...

Currently watching 烈火雄心 3...
And I cried watching episode 13 n 14....
So sad...!

Wang Xi is so fit! haha.
And tanned.
And his look is so... ermmm not handsome, but... the type of guys whom you can't bear to hurt -_-
I like him since young....
Ever since 烈火雄心1&2 many many years ago?

Too bad he's a gay -_-'''

My sleeping day today, finally!
It was fun working with jinky, lina and bincy....
Except, every night was busy!!!

1st nite-- busy with 3 admissions and 1 of them was very sick... Supposed to send to ICU but no bed available, thus came to my ward. WTH.

2nd nite (also Jinky's bday)-- full house (yeah!!, but wait...).
My very sick patient is still in my ward, no ICU bed still.

AND another patient whom was talking to me the nite before had deteriorated and using 100% facemask...
Oxygen level between 70% to 85%... OMG!

Bincy and I felt sorry for him..
Family had left him and he had lost his IC. Shd he passed away, there's nobody to claim his body...
And it would be send for state crementation.
Bincy n I felt bad to think he was irritating for the past few weeks he was in our ward... sigh~

I said 'uncle jia you!' when taking his parameters at 4am... as it was almost unrecordable...
Then he opened his eye slightly n nodded a little...
I felt comforted.

Our shift ended in peace... The patient survived my time...
But passed away during morning shift...
rest in peace

3rd nite-- 2 admissions...
And consider the 'best' nite.
in another word. *hidden*

4th nite--
Went for ward meeting before coming to work followed by angela's farewell dinner...
Only had 4 hours of sleep...
That nite was the busiest!
jinky, bincy, rasha n myself.
And I was so sleepy!
1 transfer in case,
Jinky's patient passed away....
And stupid BMU kept calling to send me cases to my empty beds..
And I rejected them.

Aren't I glad I have weekends off after 4 crazy nites.

Nevertheless, we still had time to celebrate Jinky's bday on our 2nd nite...
and 3rd nite we had pizza feast at work...

We are so efficient... =)

I can smell Taiwan

Past few nights went to research on Sun Moon Lake, 1 of our destination next month...
WOHOHO!
I can't wait....
I am so excited because this is my FIRST backpacking trip with ming!
First time without luggage,
no hotel accommodation,
and creating my own itinerary from Taipei to Kaoshiung... !!
=)
so busy okay
And today we went to buy a backpack!
60% discount... only $108...
And can carry 70kg of weights....
COOL...!
Even better was, it is considered as my belated bday gift from sis =)
And ming paid half of the price too... (cause is our trip)
So I don't have to pay a single cent hoho.

A night on the hospital bed

Yong yong is admitted to mount alvernia 2 nites ago for high feve.
Took 1 day leave today to acc him in the ward..

I didn't sleep well the nite before...
Yong only slept at 4am plus??
I was sleeping on the hospital's bed.... with cot sides up -_-

Not bad though...
We asked for single rooms for yong, but no availability.
Thus the ward converted the 4- bedded air con rooms into a HUGE single room for us...
And we can sleep on the remaining beds in the room...
how nice =)
Something which government hospital would never practice, i guess.

And i was surprised to know consultants over here set IV plugs personally... wooowww...
Rarely heard of...
No MO or HO attached to them...
so skillful ar ..

And I wore my pink wedges for the first time ever since I bought it =)

And then he said any amount will do...
Gave him 2 bucks and he left...
Before walking off he asked where am I from...

I do donate, but I dislike aggressive calls for donations.
Sometimes when 1 or 2 aggressive fellows came up to me and asked for huge sum of donations,
to help the poor and sick...
I would refuse gently...
They would continue to say how our money works wonder to them ....
And I said,
I am helping the sick and dying everyday. (in fact we help them more than money could)
They got my meaning, and walked off...
It always work for me =)

Then the 2nd guy holding 'standard chartered folder' came after 1 min...
Without introducing himself, he stood infront of me and asked if I'm a student.
Obviously I said 'arh.' (yes). students are not their criteria ma.. -_-
Then he said 'oh... in uni huh?'
Again I said 'arh.'
And looked over his direction, showing disinterest and knowing he is going to walk off soon...
Then suddenly he moved his head near to me and looked at the side of my cap and said

Why be affected by other ppl's views..?
We live for ourself, family n loved ones.
I am learning to accept the fact that I can't please everyone.
And I don't need to.
I just hope to please my family, and bf whom are worth my time and love.
Seeing them happy makes me smile =)
Friends are important too...
BUt if friends turn out to be a prolong problem,
we shd learn to hold on less.

Finally completed 4 rows of nite shifts... SHAG SHAG SHAG!
Whole nite busy with IV antibiotics...
Luckily no massive admissions.

Today is my sleeping day,
and tomorrow back to work in the afternoon.. ARGH
All cause I requested off days on thurs to sat...
SO have to delay my off days this week.
Double SHAG!

H1N1 is seriously affecting many ppl,
including myself!!!

It is affecting me badly because many plans are postpone or badly affected!

- Ming is quarantine in camp for dunno how long, with thousands of NS guys I guess..?
- Problems to our bangkok trip
---> His leave slot cannot be confirmed due to H1N1
---> Thailand is one of the top affected country, which we need to quarantine ourself 5 to 7 days after the trip. And I do not want to waste my leave slot to stay at home. STUPID LOR!

So we decided to go Taiwan instead....
=)
Even better, I thought.

But..
We had already booked the hotel in bangkok long time back!
What a JOKE. haha

So... how??
Where shd we go?

Yesterday stayed in AMK for a whole day with CF and Liz...
Went for k- high tea @ AMK branch...
Sing, sang, sung from 2pm to 7pm...

Followed by movie- Blood: The Last Vampire.
Definitely worth worthing...
Much better than drag me to hell hoho.

We were surrounded by extreme cold air wherever we go.
Ended up with piping hot meal to warm our body @ Ichiban =)

And I had my favourite salmon sukiyaki!

TOday, went for another round of singing @ Hougang K box in the evening, again.
Siao ar?
We walked back home... nearly an hour walking distance.
THat journey back home seemed fast as I listened to her love story.

And I feel sad for her. once again.

Jovial has grown bigger... and longer.
Like my grandma's dog, ball ball,
he likes to sit, and lie on my lap...

And I love having dog's soft fur on my bare leg...

I read in wikipedia, Corgi have title of 11th place in 'World's Smartest Breeds'.
Oh well...
But he is not getting any smarter for the time being,
because his owners are not doing proper training frequently..

Few days back Sis Lee & tini asked if I'm interested in advanced diploma..
The October intake is open for application soon....
I am so excited... yet uncertain.
Because... I don't want it to clash with my Nov plan!!! HAHA
Stupid la...
To forfeit schooling because of Nov trip, which I am not that stupid also...
Either way, I would carry forward the bangkok trip,
or I would skip 1 to 2 days of sch for that trip... =p

Okay, that is provided if the application is successful...
If I am not accepted, I will try next yr Jan intake--> which is much prefer because I can travel in Nov for sure!

But the probability of being accepted is also 50-50 chance,
because I am trying for medical- surgical course,
instead of gerontology.
Sis Lee said need at least a yr experience in surgical ward if I were to chose med-sur.
However I only have 2 yrs experiences in medical ward & none in surgical...
So... kinda high hope ar?
Will still try anyway =)

I mentioned in my previous post 'no mid-year bonus for civil servants this year',
and my colleagues, nursing friends from other hospitals are disappointed like me.

Few days back, we received a letter from our CEO and it was read out during roll call.
WE WILL RECEIVE OUR MID-YEAR BONUS!!!!
WOOHOO!!!!
And no less.
=)
I'm not sure if that applies to the other hospitals and sectors..
Let's hope all nurses & doctors will receive their FAIR share of bonuses altogether.
That counts for a celebration =)

June is my favourite month of the year, always have been.

Few days back I had a mini 'marathon' with my young patient in the ward....
HE dashed to the other end of the corridor and down the back staircase to level 1...
Thanks goodness my male colleagues from that station managed to pin him down eventually...

And today, he was doing an upright 'falling statue' on the bed...
What I saw was, 10 nurses and doctors surrounded the bed to support and pull him backwards.
OMG.

Ppl said nursing is challenging as we are dealing with sick n nonsensical patients.
That's right and I like the fact that it's never boring at work.
2 years at work, and I learnt a lot.
Importantly, they r beneficial to body n mind =)
I am glad I chose this path.

This yr birthday is unexpectedly lovely =)
Birthday wishes from bf, unexpected ppl, long-time-no-contact friends, close friends, lovely friends @ work, and even ppl i used to dislike (OOPSssss).
I have to say that really makes my day even better =)

This yr I have 3 birthday cakes,
from diff origin, diff ppl, diff places, and diff flavours =)

Firstly is this tiramisu cake from sweet secrets.
Which was a total surprise from my 'twin sis', pam, and kai =)

Followed by strawberry shortcake from four leaves.
Every birthday must be accompanied with birthday cakes to make it a whole, which is a tradition in my family =)

And not forgetting the hand-made bday cake from yingming private limited =)

Not edible, or touchable.
But that was the sweetest cake I ever had.
See, there's even candles to represent my age,
and 3 strawberries at the side.
Lovely =)

Honestly,
there are times like now I wondered what had I done to deserve such lovely ppl in my life.
Maybe I had done a lot of good things without knowing it??? LOLZ!!

Woke up early on a saturday morning to swim at the complex opposite my house with mum, sis and yong.
Yong went for his weekly swimming classes,
while sis n I went for more SLIDES.

We thought this was child's play after having gone through those humongous rides in wild wild wet.
We were WRONG.
Our heart almost gave way and we screamed our way down... OMG!!!
THAT WAS SO THRILLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hahahahahhahahaha.

Mum said swimming can de-stress oneself.
We corrected her.
The fastest n efficient way of de-stressing is to sit on those slides.

4 rows of night shifts over,
sleeping day and 2 days off =)
yeah.

After work on our last nite,
went for breakfast and visited Sis Janet in her office with Azliya, Rahsa and Pam..
Life in ward is NOT GOOD without her around.
Our station complement letters had dropped from 20 every month, to only 4.
pathetic.
I missed her presence, her encouragement to all the gals, fun loving personality and the power she holds.
Difficult patients were easily resolved by her then.
Now? sigh.

Father's day is nearing, and we celebrated in advance at Long Beach East Coast just now.
Seafood, our love!

Ordered the set menu for 6, (include chili crabs, black pepper crabs, drunken prawns, veg, steamed fish, 3 mixed platters, and dessert).
And followed by Alaskan king crab.
KILLER.
That crab itself cost $78 per kg promotion rate. (original price was $128 per kg, imagine that!)
And the size we chose was nearly 3kg, which cost $234!!!!
SUPER SINFUL.

The meal was fabulicious indeed...
SLURP SLURP.

Then comes the bill.
$522 AFTER 20% discount.

Divided among sis, bro in law and myself.

Yong and i sat in ming's van back home...
while parent's sat in sis's car...
We reached home first.... BUT forgotten to bring the keys.
Had to wait outside till the next batch arrive -_-''

I always tell mum she is very fortunate.
Daughters whom always bring her out to shop,
eat at nice places,
and even sing at k box...
On occasions like mother's day and bday,
the whole family will go for nice dinner and buy her lovely presents.

Sis n I even chipped in to buy a massage chair for her on her bday last yr,
ain't she pamper??
And she doesn't even need to do much house chores, with a maid around.

Tai tai's life, I told her.
But she does deserve all these...
She worked, sweated, and suffered hardships when we were young then...
Now that we r working and have stable income,
it's only right for us to give her the best in her semi- retirement.

When I was young, I remembered mum popped me a question jokingly.
'Will u send me to old folk's home when I am old some day?'
I laughed and assured her that it will never happen.

Yong's belated birthday post

Belated post on yong's birthday chalet last weekends.
Went to Costa Sands Resort after work on Friday,
and had our own bbq...
Bro-in-law was the chef that nite while we sat and ate throughout =)

Next morning,
mum came over and we went to escape and wild wild wet!!!
We had free voucher to either one place.... cool!

No long queues for go kart as we were there early in the morning... =)

Wild wild wet was the best!
I love the long, high water SLIDES!
It was so fun!!
We kept climbing up the stairs to the start point of the slides..
and ZOOMED... down we go into the water again.

It was cloudy... about to rain.
And we were about to leave =)

Spent 2 hours in escape, and 3 hours in wild wild wet..
I love the sun!

Back to chalet rooms and showered...
Prepared for birthday celebration in few more hours...
And their relatives & friends to come.

Birthday cake this yr.
8 yrs old liao..

Ming reached in the evening and we went nite cycling after cake cutting.
Cycled to changi village.... 45 mins to an hour to reach.
The path there is sloppy!
It was easier when we cycled back...
till I injured my foot.
Still painful at this point.
And we returned nearly 2am... yawnz.

Next morning, checked out.
Go ming's place,
gym,
dinner
and then...
Home sweet home.

Sadly, when sis brough Jovial to the chalet on the first day,
we were told strictly no pets allowed. -_-''''

And had to drive it home again.

Went to wild wild wet,
escape,
and cycled to changi village (total 12 km to n fro) yesterday nite...

Then today went to gym with ming n ray somemore.
SHAG.
haha.

My foot is injured!
I cycled too fast and my foot accidentally brushed against the hard pillar..
and it bled.
*ouch*
And bf washed and covered the wound for me =)

How do you love someone?

I have no intention to mention someone in this blog,
but so happen I saw his picture somewhere and realise he is attached.

And I feel sad for the gal.
He is a monster behind that mask.

It doesn't affect me now,
nor am I interested in his current situation.
The fact is I no longer hold any hatred towards him,
though those incidents could never be eradicated from my memory for as long as I live.
I no longer regard those incidents as painful memories,
but a valuable lesson taught instead.
And from it, I understand the meaning of loving someone.

Love is when 2 ordinary people stay together and lead a simple life and occasionally argue over insignificant issues.
And at the end of the day, they still love and cherish each other.

AND NOT

2 ordinary people stay together and tried to live a life which others envy, and often quarrel and fight over sensitive issues.
And at the end of the day, they still say 'i love u', but not acknowledging the true meaning of it.

I am grateful for every happening in my life,
whether it was bitter or sweet.
For I learnt and grow each time I fell.

And now,
I'm not afraid to fall.
Because I have found someone whom will give me his hand n help me up.
=)

And he is the only 1 to pass the quiz, out of 8 friends whom tried! lolz.

I didn't help him to cheat.
Only gave a little hint... just once =)

And came the turn to make his own quiz...
I passed, of course =)
I was supposed to get more than 60% if he didn't type subs instead of subways.

And finally, I am back to work tomorrow after 4 days of rest.

I tried to divert my attention to something else.
I think back on those sweet moments when I'm least prepared.
I think of the effort it could be to someone even if it takes others lesser time & ability to fulfil.
I told myself to take it easy and just let it be.
Somethings are perhaps, going to be unchanged.
It could be myself. Not others.
That I am always looking for perfection.

Suddenly I thought of someone & Christmas that year.
It is sweet when someone prepared something for u when u are not expecting anything.
Can I rewind back to where I had left?
It still saddens me thinking back sometimes.

It sounds superficial.
But I strongly believe and think it is only right that somethings ought to be fulfilled on some days.
It tells how much one regards the significance of that occasion.
Not to the extreme of fairytale romance..
No need for fancy dining,
no need for expensive branded gifts,
no need for sparkling fireworks,
or laser light love poems...

But definitely, a simple and decent dinner together.
And together they exchanged their gifts which was planned long time back--> and eager to see the expression on their partner's face when they opened up the gift.
Back to the basic.
It can be fulfilled easily, can't it?

But... ?

I guess I would be happier if I were emotionless.
I won't care if he does things for the sake of doing.
If he read my blog and knows how I feel.
If he knows I do yearn for something more from him.
3 years. What does it really signify?

Life is colourful

Awfully chocolate is sinfully chocolate-ish.....
The rum and cherry is fabu-licious.

I was sad yesterday.
But instead of wallowing in self pity,
I went out with Lina in the evening for movie wolverine & dinner at Fish Manhatten in J8.
However waited long for it to be served, ended up taking away Lina's portion and ate in the cinema as we were rushing for the show.
Nice =)

Btw, startrek is equally nice too=)
In fact even better.
I thought that movie would bore me as I wasn't into sci-fi...
But it was really great when I watched with ming n friends in suntec days back.

Suddenly I am looking forward to many important dates...
- our anniversary
- bollywood dance? haha.
- my bday
- yong's bday chalet
- tioman trip
- bangkok trip (still long way ahead)

Jovial's 2nd vaccination

Busy at work yesterday...
1 death,
1 fall (nearly),
1 late admission....
And I was left with 10 reports to write and the death report to complete after 10pm...
Already 11.30pm when I was done.
But happy is, I realise I was off the next day when my colleagues told me.
Sis Lee changed my roaster and gave me ph today... which I was supposed to be am shift.
THANKS GOODNESS!
And ming came to wait for me and sent me home when I told him I have yet to complete my work....
DOUBLE happiness =)

So today brought Jovial to vet at Yishun with sis n mum in the morning..
Almost reaching the car park, Jovial vomited his undigested morning breakfast onto me!!!
ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!
................................
I stinked.
Sis's driving too bumpy liao.... caused Jovial to regurgitate.
Even the backseat also gena!

At the vet,
we waited 30 mins for less than 5 mins consultation plus vaccination.
Jovial didn't bark or move when the vet injected his butt.
The vet said the injection might not hurt since he had went through frequent caning at home when he peed or pooed out of the cage.... lol

On the way home, mum prepared a plastic bag infront of Jovial's mouth in case another episode of vomiting especially after the injection.
The vet told us an alternative way to toilet train him, is using a pet pan.
We bought 4 metal pieces in total, and fixed into a squarish fence.

And tata!!

We will place this pet pan in the kitchen...
Coming 2 months liao...!!!
Still peeing outside cage...
Hopefully this method can toilet train him.... pls pls pls!!!

Realised there r some clothing which I had worn for only once or twice, which I had bought at a costy price then....
And a few dresses which I have yet to wear--> plus 2 new ones which I purchased online lately..
........................ I need more off days and leaves to go on date =)
I spent a lot then! I had cut down on splurging on clothing nowadays. Only occasionally online purchase -_-
Any idea how to hold a bazaar or flea??? haha.

Few days back we started to wear N95 mask in the ward...
All medical staff, healthcare workers (including physio, occupational therapist, speech therapist etc), cleaners and even porters donned their mask everywhere in the hospital.
And long queues at level 1 lobby area to screen visitors,
and only 1 visitor to a patient is allowed each time...
Having to wear the mask for more than 8 hours is really suffocating....
Just hoping the goggles and ppe will not be in used yet.

We received bad news...
All leaves will be frozen, starting from next monday.
Poor colleague of mine, whom had booked tickets back to m'sia to visit her parents had to be cancelled.
And others whom are affected by the news...
It is uncalled for.
Many of them had already make plans for their nearing leaves... sad
Mine was supposed to be next week too, luckily I volunteered to cancel my leave as it clashed with 2 of my colleagues, and pushed it to November slot then.
It does pay to be kind ar...

Having deployed to central station yesterday,
and working with the mask in the non- aircconditiong area, I almost fainted.
DARN.
Just 1 day of deployment and I am already 'station- sicked'
I missed A station air-conditiong, my station colleagues and even the nonsensical patients.. (lol)
I hate deployment.
ANd I wondered, I am so used to my working surroundings now....
How fast can I adapt if I change to another ward?
I know it is the matter of time... but there r still ppl, and things that I would miss when I were to leave someday.

I agree with what Jone said..
The government, hospitals are over-reacting.
Only 1 confirmed case in HK, and no suspecting cases in singapore yet.
But the precautions they took are too much...
Cancelling of leaves, full PPE (in some wards), goggles standby etc...
I understand ever since the SARS outbreak, hospitals and government are being more vigilant.
But this is... overdoing.
ALthough I do agree prevention is better than cure,
I think they should give us more breathers.
Already hectic over the workload, and this current situation is overflowing our capacity to hold.

Today morning shift, I'm working with Lina in the same team....
Wonderful. haha.
Left the ward on the dot... showered and had late lunch in the hospital with her.
Ming came and fetched me to marina square after that....
Met up his friends for dinner to celebrate Rayner's ORD..
How fast... scary

Next week is Mother's day, and also our 3rd anniversary =)

I was supposed to work pm shift today and am shift tml..
But Sis Leong gave me my ph and al for these 2 days, unexpectedly =)
I was so shag even after my 2 days off on wed n thurs.
She said after looking through my roaster, I need to work 7 to 8 days before my next coming day off, for the next 2 weeks.
So she pity me and manage to schedule me for 2 more rest days..
I am so grateful =)
especially when I never requested for that.
And even better, it is weekends!!
I seriously need a LONG break.

So today, I showered Jovial.. sparkling clean and he smells nice...
Right after I dried him, he dashed to the living room and jumped onto his bed.
And PEE. ARGH

Afterwhich played majong at home with Ragu, Ziyang and ming...
Majong is one of the favourite pastime =)
Evening time went to Tampines for movie, friday the 13th
WOoooot... They said the previous one was more gruesome...
haha... Anyway it is nice la... the psychotic killer never seems to die.
Ate at Tampines one Manpuku restaurant.... it is the highlight of the mall.
Similar to shokudo japanese restaurant concept...
But... The food is really bad.
Not worth the price at all. small portion, awfully salty & expensive
I would say shokudo is much better.
Disappointment.

An extra mile

Today went to visit an ex-patient with Lina in the evening...
She was hospitalised for almost 3 months and was discharged only recently.
Used to be DIL in the ward, and for palliative management.
But she looks well n refreshed when we visited her today.
=)
Lina said there's sense of satisfaction when patients are discharged n well taken care at home.

The patient's husband fetch us from the hospital and even intended to send us home from queensway!
We told him no need to travel so far but he said there's nothing to do at home also.
funny uncle. haha.

Went to Vivocity for dinner at Carl's Junior with Lina.
Yummy.
She had to go for classes, so we left after that.
She looked so stress with school work, poor gal.

I am down on luck lately.
Whatever shifts I am, it would always be extreme busy.
Especially morning shifts.
I anticipated today morning would be hectic.
True enough, it really was.
To add on, I have an unexpected discharge of a problematic patient.
Everyone is waiting for this day to send her home.
And I became the hero suddenly.
*headache*
And today I sent 3 bedbound patients home.
Everyone cheered. But me. (the long list of appointments and vexing arrangements gave me headache)
I am always in charge at the wrong time BBBrrrr.

I need to shower in flower petals.
Does it help? haha.

Changes can be detrimental

only to know the 3 of us think the same way of someone.

Changes are inevitable.
And of course worth the hard work if the change is optimal.
But...
It becomes terrible when a change in personality is involved.

I feel guys are able to understand such feeling better than women do.
They observe, and are unbiased.
When I thought I might be the only one to notice that change,
they agreed with me.

Sometimes ppl whom u think are quiet and neutral, might surprise u when they voice out.

I am someone whom changed a lot too.
I might like something one minute, and the next I could have forgotten it and start looking for another again.
But my argument- Changes are harmless if I remember my roots.

The ward is hectic lately...
Many DIL (dangerous ill list) patients, bed bound patients and also the nonsensical troublemakers, whom double our usual workload.

At moment like this, how I wish Sister Janet is still with us.
She has the authority to fight back for us and bring enough manpower to ease our burden.
SHe used to scold me for my stubborness when I was busy and insisted of getting my work done before going for break.
She would say nurses are always busy. but we have to eat.
I am stubborn but I do get softened easily when persuaded.
Thus I need her to be around to push me....

Not forgetting the way she can twist and turn when facing difficult patients and relatives.
ANd always protecting us... and giving us chances.
She is so admirable.

Our new station sister is good too...
but in comparison...
I do hope it was sister Janet whom stays.

Yesterday went to bugis new shopping mall, lluma for movie with ming.

The story was captivating, except it's ending is kinda fictional.
Speaking of lluma,
it's huge and has many nice restaurants and shops.
Not many shops are open yet, but it was already crowded.
The most attractive is it's cinemafilmgrade, movie at $6 everyday =)

Went to the arcade and saw something interesting.
It is common to see ppl putting tokens into the machine and using it's metal hands to pick up assorted sweets and chocolates.
But in that arcade, they replace sweets & chocolates with ice creams!!!
ben & jerry tub, magnum ice creams etc...
AIn't it cool?!?!

It was a lovely evening with ming....
Especially when I worked till I almost cried. haha.
HECTIC.
And was stuck inside my patient's room for 2 hours just to do his complicated burnt-like dressing. OMG.
Aren't I glad I'm on night shift coming monday.. Can escape from morning craziness!!
Looking forward to my long weekends off =)

Worked 4 days straight of morning shifts... so sleepy!
My greatest problem is not having enough sleep.
Minimum 10 hours and more. That would be perfect =)

Today the ward was so HECTIC!
Started from the moment I served medications,
to attending the nonsense patient's issues,
followed by a chain of problems....

i.e. onco patient's cvc line blocked, dermatology patient with complicated dressing and need to loan burn bandages from burns ward, gastro patient whom needs blood transfusion, and helped my junior with the messy dressing of a contracture patient.
Not forgetting attending promptly to the complain queen around the clock!

And worst of all.... 2 new admissions in the midst of all workload on a BUSY monday!!!

KAOZ!
And there are only 2 of us in the team. WTH!
And I only got to complete doing my changes and reports at 4pm plus!
Jone and I ended up going home at 5pm!
Poor Junior and in-charge.

*I hope, and I pray I am not first half in-charge tml.. CAN DIE AR!!*

Back home, brought Jovial downstairs for a walk....

1 out of 10 times he got it right only.

Weekends night shifts completed again. WHEW
It is the season of resuscitation and death again...
Imagine, 3 patients collapsed on the same day in the 3 stations.
And 2 E-trolley are not enough...
And my very sick patient passed away on the morning of my last nite.
I am quite lucky honestly...
My 1st 'packing' case in the 1st quarter of the year.
While some of my colleagues, already 'packed' 3 within a month.
So.. I am not very experienced when it comes to death....
Which I seriously need to improve so as to provide more information and help to the grieving family.

However my 3 nites were quite free... despite the commotions haha.
Maybe we are too efficient liao..
Completed our work fast and the remaining of the time was eating with Azliya, Rasha and Su Jing.

Finally met up with CF on my sleeping day.
Still feel so sleepy.... But trying to revert back to the correct timing. -_-
Back home at nite,
carried Jovial out from the cage and allowed it to run in the living room for a few mins...
He is so hyper and happy to be out....
Few more days and we can allow it to roam freely in the house... =)

I told mum to let me do the feeding,
so that Jovial will recognise my importance lolz.

An eventful car ride

A day of car ride with sis, mum & ting ting yesterday.
Intention was to send yong to sch for his remedial, and morning tea at chinatown.
We were planning to shop for shoes and a new tv set after that.
Ended up home with an unplan purchase.

It started when sis mentioned about her cheap bargains in bangkok,
and the cute doggies for sales in the weekend market.
And how much she wanted to buy it but not allowed to bring it back to sg.
The topic became more interesting and I became so tempted to own one again.
So I suggested going down to the pet shop in Simei after meal to have a look,
and crazy sis agreed so.

So many years since I last went and the pet safari has already shrink into a small shop.
We didn't stay long as the choices are limited.
Thought our dog hunting has come to an end,
until sis mentioned there are many pet shops in thomson.
We drove down without second thoughts and ended up in a shop.

We saw a terrier and it was so cuteeeee!
This is a terrier.

Mum said 'EEEEeee.. so black. can't see the eyes.'
Then mum pointed to another pup...
It is a corgi.
She said it looks more like a puppy, n it's cute.
I set my eyes on it and no deny, it does has the cute lil pup look.
I fall in love with it instantly too....
So did sis, though she still thinks the small black terrier is much cuter.
I told her that terrier is cute, but the cuteness might bored us in the long run.
Whereas the corgi has an unexplainable cutesy look. lol
So was the price difference.

The price of that terrier is $1950,
and $2400 for that corgi.
KAOZ so expensive I said.
The thought of buying disappeared instantly.
The boss of that shop intro corgi to us, and even brought it out for us to touch n feel...
It resembles the smaller version of golden retriever, my ideal dog -_-
He is only 4 months old. Still a baby =)

Mum noticed we were so hyper enthu in that puppy,
and asked 'not thinking of buying it now right?'
I gave her the sly smile..

And guessed what?
We bought it haha!!
Shared the cost with sis...

We brought home some of the necessities and took out some of the items in the store room that used to belong to BiBi.
And evening time, acc sis to fetch yong from school and drove straight to the pet shop to collect the puppy....
THey had showered and trimmed his nails before we reached...
We were so thrilled!!!!

But we were told to keep him inside the cage for 1 to 2 weeks, and cannot allow it to come out to play or sleep even for a few mins.
That is to train them to pee at the right place.
They said we have to endure for that 1 to 2 weeks or we would have a tough time training it when it grows.
They also taught us the amount of food to give, and their need for vitamins.
Even dogs need vitamins... healthy bo?

My 3rd time having a dog,
the previous 2 puppies were passed down by many other owners and their temper were either too crazy or quiet.
But he is the 1st dog that truly belongs and whom will grow up with us =)

Call him Jovial everybody.
It brings joy to my family and may it be a happy dog in my home too =)

There was an adidas sales few days back at Expo.
Reached early in the morning and the queue was already stretched all the way to subway.
Early birds get the most worms haha.
And true enough, despite having to queue for an hour to enter.
I bought a bag, bikini, and a pink cap =) And only for 75 bucks.
Happy rewards -_-

Last Saturday met up with sec sch friends for dinner, aka JJ's bday gathering.
Finally settled down at Bali Thai in Suntec.

And happy to say, my nites were smooth though busy =)
2 nights of mcdonald too...
And more frequent night in April.

Went for buffet dinner at Furama Hotel for Sis Janet farewell.
Sad, BMU will send more crappy cases to us now. SHIT.
A station will be even busier than now. Though already busy like hell.

Piano

I had not touched it for a very long time.....
The last was with my tutor from church many, many years back.
She taught me the basics, and would practise the notes with me after each tuition session.

Few days back, I took out yong's piano book, wrote down the 'numbers' and sat infront of the piano and played again...
Such a nice feeling =)
Especially hearing the music I played is such a sense of satisfaction. haha.
Nowadays kids are so fortunate.
A piano of his own, and a tutor whom comes every week.
I have to say, yong is quite good at it.
I told him to master Jay Chou's song and play it some day -_-''

I always think piano is a beautiful instrument.
It brings out the feelings magically :)

My target--> to practise every week with yong -_-
And some day, I will be able to play a full set with both hands wohoho.

Operation ended by noon, and he returned to the day surgery ward.
And I was his private nurse for the rest of the afternoon =)
lucky fella. under good care =p

He was still slightly drowsy from the anesthesia... n continued to sleep...
And was discharged in the evening....
8 tooth removed at one go! ouch... ! painful it seems.
Poor him, no more good food.

Talking about someone whom no longer exist as that someone special brings a tinge of sadness still.
I always believe it takes a lot of effort to bring 2 strangers together.
From friends, and to lovers.
I always enjoy the presence of my friends, because good friends are hard to come by.
Let alone a good lover.
Years passed, but I have not totally forget how I had missed the chance to be with that special someone.
I used to relate my feelings and doubts in my personal blog, knowing he would read it some day.
But it was too late when he did eventually.
And it's sad to know,
I brought him more suffering and pain then.

Coincidentally when I came online, Ken told me ming is a rare guy whom I shd appreciate and love.

BF whom always try to meet me when he books out on weekends,
whom accompanied me when he has night's out though it was short,
whom sent me to work n fetch me for supper sometimes,

whom give a big damn to what I said now,
whom does things for my own good,

So why am I complaining that he is not doing much then?
I feel so ashamed thinking of that.
Fact is, we used to quarrel because I always wanted more.
But many times I feel I am not giving as much as I am receiving.
It is unfair to him, yet he never complains.
And he is always content and happy with everything I do for him.

I'm more sensible to understand that now.

I reached home, on my laptop, went to facebook, while waiting to go out again.
Browsing through the valentine's photos posted by a few friends.... -_-''
And surprise not, I only have 1 photo to share for that day....

I used to believe beautiful moments should be captured down and kept as lovely memory when looked back someday,
but now I think not EVERYTHING needed pictures to support it's existence, nor as a yardstick to measure the happiness level.

ANyway....
I had a breathtaking valentine's day with ming.
I screamed, and I thought I was going to die at some points.. haha. (Ok, that's exaggerating).

At one particular tough trail,
my hand ached from holding tight onto the rope above my head,
and trying to balance myself on the rope while walking to the other tree above the ground...

It wasn't really THAT high.... 5 metres from the ground...
I was kinda shaky at the beginning.
I'm afraid of heights.. haha.

At the end of it, I told ming it was indeed an unexpected outing.
ANd he said this is to prepare me for the next big thing next yr....

We were partially covered with sand from all the landing..
And we went back to the hotel he booked and changed, before having dinner nearby.
Night time, we watched the pursuits of happiness from my laptop...
I would love to have ALL the movies n music in his hard disc... It's amazing.

I gave him a bag which I bought few days back at town.
And he said I'm finally learning to buy practical things which he needs...

How nice.
But a waste on someone whom doesn't wear jeans often.
Maybe I should start to wear jeans always from now. haha.

I forgotten to mention this... But... I went to meet Mr Toad on the Friday 13th.... A decade since we last met. haha. Ain't it nice to catch up with someone whom had left unforgettable memories in ur life before...????? lolz. And we drank sake early afternoon...... warm sake taste nicer I think... Watched look for a star after lunch, hmmmm... kinda cute movie la haha.

I clicked onto my archives in my previous blog to check out something...
And while reading though the period I first started as a junior nurse during my 1st few months...
I'm amazed on how I used to take things so hard on myself then.
Ain't it nice to know many things r within my control now? :)
It gave me a sense of satisfaction after a year n half in nursing.
Interestingly, someone (forgotten who) actually asked what I see myself a few yrs later...
'I don't know'.
I'm still uncertain of the path ahead.... despite having complete half my bond...
I'm not someone whom plan my route specifially, or a goal to reach at a certain age.
Mine is simple... I will complete my remaining bond, and study degree at the meanwhile,
after which I will decide the path to take...

I had watched almost all the highly recommended movies lately.
Inkheart with CF and Liz days ago at woodlands,
and Underworld with ming n his friends at TM just now.
Left Benjamin Buttons which we intend to watch coming weekends =)
Oh my.... If only there's MIO Movie instead of MIO TV, I would have subscribe long ago...

And i finally paid a visit to ming's mum after work today, on the 2nd last day of cny -_-''
We had black pepper crabs and noodles etc at a well known stall in Joo Chiat...
I'm surprised with the amount we ate... plate of veg, salad you tiao, hor fun, 2 black pepper crabs.
Ming didn't eat a single bit- he was saving his stomach for subway at the later part.
And he watched us devoured the food down into our stomach... happily.
And we did finish everything.... *slurp*

Sidetrack a little....
Sister Janet was going through my appraisal today,
and I requested for transfer to a surgical ward.

Hmmm.... kinda sudden too.
But I feel I need to have more experience in other areas at the shortest time...
To enable me for more opportunities in the near future.
Having spent 1.5 yrs in the medical ward, it's time for me to move to another discipline.
And being able to survive in one of the busiest medical ward, I guess I can do well in surgical side too.. I hope so la...
Anyway the transfer would be kept in view.
Not that soon... Within 6 months to a yr. Depending on staffing as well...
Well... I'm excited haha.
